USA Patriot Act Identification Program

To help the government fight the funding of terrorism and money laundering activities, Federal Law requires all financial institutions to obtain, verify, and record information that identifies each person who opens an account. SecurTrust FCU will ask for this information when a member account is established.

7 Great Reasons to Love SecurTrust FCU

You may have passed by our building, seen one of our ads, or heard our members’ rave reviews and thought, “What’s the big deal? What makes a credit union better than my bank?” Well, let us answer that question for you. Once you’ve learned a bit more about credit unions, you may be inclined to open an account today!

So, what exactly is a credit union, and why is it better?

Credit unions are not-for-profit organizations that exist to serve their members rather than to maximize corporate profits. We offer most of the same services and features as the big banks, and our members reap the benefits! Here are some more reasons to choose SecurTrust FCU:

Motives: The sole purpose of our existence is to serve our members and have their best interests at heart. We work to help you meet your financial goals and make the decisions that best meet your needs. We’ve worked with many members to improve their credit scores, and when it comes to loans, we always do what’s best for our members. Big banks, on the other hand, are there to turn a profit and will seemingly do whatever it takes to meet their numbers.

Structure: Because we follow a cooperative structure, SecurTrust is owned and operated by its members. Upon opening your savings account and making your initial deposit, you will be granted voting rights along with surplus income returned in the form of better rates on savings, loans, and regularly paid dividends.

Fees: Banks are notorious for their excessive and hidden fees and have been known to use those fees to pad their bottom line. SecurTrust offers many different types of accounts with minimum fees.

Loan Rates: Most members use SecurTrust FCU for car purchases because the rate is normally lower than dealer financing and because commercial bank rates are normally much higher. We also offer relatively low APRs on mortgages, personal loans, and credit cards.

Customer Service: Rest assured that our focus will always be on you. We have friendly representatives who want to get to know you and strive to help you, and we work to maintain that relationship. We offer most of the same services as any bank, including online and mobile banking, savings and checking accounts, student and senior accounts, loans, and many more!

Insurance: You can also rest assured that your funds are safe in SecurTrust’s hands. All SecurTrust accounts are federally insured up to $250,000 and backed by the U.S. government.

Earnings: Let’s be honest. Interest rates on savings are low across the board right now, but credit unions still fare a little better than major banks. SecurTrust offers Club accounts and Gold Checking accounts for seniors, both of which earn higher interest rates. We also give special perks to teachers, military personnel, and firefighters & police officers. SecurTrust pays dividends quarterly.

So, now you want to join, right? SecurTrust Federal Credit Union is proud to serve anyone who lives, works, worships, or attends school in DeSoto, Tate, and Marshall counties.
